Is there something about this that I missed?
I feel like it didn't go in depth about anything. Not war or love or the protagonist's view of his life or anything. Moments of it were strong, but I felt like it didn't all come together by the end.

Hemingway is the YA of "classical literature". You read him for the cool story, but his themes are ultimately vapid, his prose is dry and lacking any beauty, and his stories are choked with self insertion and unfulfilled fantasies regarding women
