In one of her few all but complete poems Sappho references The topmost apple, the one the pickers forgot-- as a positive instance. Look around you. This apple is literally everywhere. What, for instance, in the most hackneyed (political) debates do both sides conveniently forget to mention? Or, how could these issues be reformatted so as to seem new, more interesting? In a world that recognizes only a poverty of possibilities, it's lit's business to shake things up, or die.
