The first stories I wrote were literal crap.

I still don't consider myself good, but I feel I've improved after translating poetry for a week.

I made a blog to practice my translations.
They suck, but I feel they suck a little less every time I keep practicing.

I would really recommend translation as a writing exercise, your brain suddenly starts to understand how is the structure of writing should be, you starts to see common invisible structures good writing has, when to use punctuation.

A lot of shit that simply writing from imagination won't give you.
