What books would /lit/ recommend on military tactics and strategy? I don't really care whether it's ancient or modern. Also, I've already read the Art of War.

Infantry attacks by Erwin Rommel, WW1 tacticsIt's not just going over the top after a week of artillery barrage.

Start with the Greeks (or Romans)
Also, Shelby Foote's "The Civil War" is a plethora of military strategy in action.

Art of War, The Book of Five Rings, On War by Clausewitz, History of the Peloponnesian War, FMFRP 12-2 Infantry in Battle.
You need to win that Heroes of Might and Magic scenario that badly?
Perhaps not what you were intending, and certainly lacking in tactics, nonetheless I will recommend here Robert A Heinlein's Starship Troopers. R A H was a navy man,and that novel brought home the idea of forging soldiers out of the rough clay of civilians, and their mental reworking to cope with the new paradiem. Sometimes to better understand the machinery of War,one must learn how the gears are made.

Nop OP but I really love those maps with unit positions and how they change as the battle goes along
Any book heavy on those?
