How do we feel about creative writing MFAs, /lit/? Destroying artistic integrity, or helping it?

we feel bad about it
serves no practical use at all, but a lot of agents and publisher will at least give your shit a second look if you say you have an mfa, for some reason.
Painters go to school to learn to paint.
Musicians go to school to learn to music.
Writers should do the same.
Some painting programs kill off an spark of creativity or joy in the student, but this doesn't negate the legitimacy of painting school.
One things that happens with MFA's in writing, music, painting or whatever, there is a certain group of people who are really good at school and maybe really good at creating technically sound works that the professor and the class love, but they will never make great or even good art.
All I can tell you is that I haven't read anything good that's been written by someone with a MFA.

spoken like a truly uncreative person who hasn't even finished a full semester in college so far.

Normally I welcome recommendations, but with the guy who wrote Infinite Jest in there, I think I'll pass.
