Which is better for getting into Nietzsche; Beyond Good and Evil, or Thus Spoke Zarathustra?
>>
the former

Zarathustra is his most difficult work
>>
>>9157390
Thank you.
Why is it his most difficult?
>>
>>9157382
Beyond Good and Evil for sure. The chronology of when he wrote his books matters, he has a very clear development throughout.
>>
>>9157392
It's the end result of his life's work.
>>
>>9157413
I thought Zaratustra came before?
>>
>>9157392
it's largely allegorical.
>>
>>9157382
read thus spoke zarathustra first
then go on reading his works in chronological order
reread thus spoke zarathustra at the end
and feel the understanding fill your mind
>>
>>9157382
I Hope you've at least read the Greeks, everything up until Jesus, Schopenhauer, and Max before hand? If else, don't bother with Nietzsche.
>>
>>9157392
Because it reads like a cryptic allegory in which the author is very inexplicit about the ideas he is trying to convey, making it easy to misinterpret
>>
>>9157458
Meme alert
>>
>>9157465
How exactly? Most of his work is in response to these people. If you're reading Nietzsche without context you will misunderstand him, and have nothing to comparatively analyze his work except your own experiences and circumstances.
>>
Thanks for the input.
Are there any other books that deal with morality, or what it means to be 'good or evil'?
>>
>>9157382
Read both Beyond Good and Evil and the Genealogy of Morality.
The first one is still somewhat hard to understand, the latter was written as a ulterior explanation of the first book.

Also read their respective Ecce Homo chapters, they're short and easy to find online.
