Would it be a bad idea to create a magical realism centered around the inner city black mysticism, illuminati, soul selling, etc, to create a world where the urban black's magic truly exists in the concrete jungle? A butchered rendition of christianity and an egomaniacal conspiracy theory surrounding each of their actions, the devil always on their backs, the meteoric rise of a youth through the ranks of fame and riches, all falling back to a robert johnsonesque root?

well, it's still just going to be a story about some normal kid in the ghetto turning into a superstar practically overnight, and it would just have the addition of him being talentless but completely reliant on a satanic and occult figure, a tool of satan that eventually realizes his fate. Maybe not magical realism i guess, just an interesting idea i've never heard outside of the popular rap scene and my time hanging out with inner city gangsters.
