I put off reading Anna Karenina for a long time because I was reluctant to read a book about a woman.
I'm glad I finally did read it though. The parts with Levin working on his farm mowing grain or hunting snipe in the marsh with his dog were so damn comfy.
Plus Vronsky was alpha as fuck, fucking married women, racing horses and finally going off to Serbia to remove kebab or die trying

Goodwill / thriftstores usually have the Pevear translation. It's good. But yea, pretty much any translation is fine.

I've read P&V and Marian Schwartz translations.

Schwartz is 100x better...I've also compared it to maudes and found it to more accurately transmit Tolsoy's style. I highly recommend Schwartz' translation.

Maude is the safe bet for everything Tolstoy wrote.

If I'm entirely new to Tolstoy, is AK a good starting point or would I enjoy it more after reading something else of his?

Death of Ivan is a better primer, it's much shorter and a good intro to Tolstoy. But yes, AK is a fine starting point either way
