Read the wikipedia page then the book. You can make sense of the story yourself, but there's honestly not a point to it.

If you've grown up in the south it's a walk in the park. If you're unfamiliar with american vernacular it's going to be difficult. If you're anywhere in between... idk, give it a go.
It doesn't reference works or knowledge in the same way as Ulysses does.

Faulkner never straight up explains to the reader what's happening. He doesn't even hint at it. He demands that the reader does the work of supplying context.
