Ye old virginal wall of virtue vs evil lustful penetrating villain trope huh?
>>9071423
A giant, pulsating, black energy phallus with a gleaming white tip that can penetrate anything.

Just have his ability be to break down the Mc's walls. You don't really have to explain it more than, "I can break down barriers," But maybe allude to some sort of connection between the the two that allows the antagonist to have the upper hand over the MC. Since the MC doesn't have his powers against a villain he'd have to actually use real human abilities and skill to deal with his issue.

Just have your mc's shield to be "positive" energy, and the antagonist's power as negative. Or viceversa.
make the rival be like Touma from Index where he can just cancel out powers.
