What's some Weimar-core literature?
I'm just in the mood to read about a society on the precipice of falling into fascism for some reason.

Is it worth reading over the Fassbinder film?

Great Gatsby is the obvious answer. All the Devils are Here by McClean is good. And the Band Played On is a good book about the high point of pre-Aids gay culture that came crashing down. On the Marble Cliffs is a good comparison between peace and fascism.
Yeah dude, fuck Trump! xD

Every anon who claims Trump is a fascist makes me cringe, firstly because making historical comparisons is fraught with errors, but also because it displays a shocking lack of knowledge regarding Hitler's rise to power. There were literally street battles in Germany in the late 20s between Jewish dominated Communist sects and Far Right freecorps.
Instead it would be much more interesting to regard the Brexit govt change, the recent Finnish and Polish elections, Trumpism, and the upcoming French and German elections, as a new historical reaction brought about by social liberals who just pushed too hard. In a pretty decent article, this fellow at the NYRB termed in as "illiberal democracy".

You realize the Nazis weren't the only fascist regime? Corporatism is probably a better word to use than fascism though to describe what Trump is. He's bringing business interests directly into government planning, protectionism, and he's obviously working towards empowering the executive branch and weakening all other branches of government to accomplish his goals.

Corporatism is a concept from Catholic social teaching. Use a word like kleptocracy.

I see Trump as more of a instinctual Erdogan. He's not doing it as much on purpose, but the playbook is the same.
