I own one. It's pretty funny. One day when I'm old and 4chan is long dead I will look back on it and have a laugh and some mixed memories.
Maybe in my will I'll leave some cryptic hints about how it has secret importance and my grandchildren will go on a journey leading them to one of you cunts as a wise old man who interprets the shitposts for them.

I think its because 4chan had a reputation and now that reputation is spoiled. It had it's 'golden years' as the frontier of internet badboys. The problem is, it became popular and mixed with reddit so now 4chan is just a place that people reference as being "oh yeah I've heard of that" instead of "yeah, I live on 4chan and spend all my time creating content for that place to relieve my existential suffering".

Tentative beginning here lads:

It was finally finished. As Anon typed the last few glorious sentences of his 600,000 word novella, he knew he had truly completed a masterpiece. Light literally shone down from the heavens through the window onto his grungy, Cheetos and cum-stained keyboard.
‘This is it’ he murmured to himself over the faint sound of an angelic choir echoing through his 120+ IQ brain, ‘this is the work that answers the final question and renders literature obsolete’. It was at this moment Anon’s heart began to undergo difficulties, as years of browsing the chon and cheeto binges seemingly caught up with him. He clutched his chest dramatically while flailing around in his lay-z-boy reclining chair.

>3 pages of random anon's thoughts on Infinite Jest for example

New progress:
Anon wiped the sweat from his brow- thinking on such a level as he were no easy feat! He took the moment to slip a tendie in his mouth and ponder the view outside his window. The light perfectly reflected off of the marble aqueduct that ran perpendicular to his villa, annoyingly, in his opinion, as it prevented him from being able to see the orgies that were now commonplace in the atrium. What was the point of living in Rome if you weren’t able to enjoy the finer things in life? It was 450A.D, the current time, for God’s sake. He shook his head and began to write again. He was nearing the last few glorious sentences of his 600,000 word novella and he already knew he had completed a masterpiece, no, THE masterpiece of literature ad infinitum. Light literally shone down from the heavens through the window onto his grungy, Cheetos and cum-stained keyboard as his chunky fingers danced across the keyboard spryly.
‘NOT SO FAST VIRGIN’ came the sudden cry from behind him, ‘WILL YOU FINISH YOUR GREATEST WORK WHILE NOT YET A MAN’? Anon turned around as fast as his reclining computer chair would allow him and two minutes later gazed upon the girl of his dreams, the waifu he never thought existed. Shocked speechless for a mere moment, he gazed at her bosom before entering a lengthy internal monologue with himself whether 2D or 3D were superior.
‘ARE YOU GOING TO SAY SOMETHING’ the maiden asked in a surprisingly masculine and commanding manner.
‘T-t-tis’ an awesome thing a girl in my villa. I’m Anon’ he began, ‘Don’t be intimidt-‘
‘SILENCE’ the waifu said, glad to be interrupting his poor attempt to talk to a girl, ‘POINT ME TO YOUR BEDROOM’

"Anon! Anon, please answer!" panic gripped Anon, making his fingers convulse against his will. A woman's voice! A woman! At his door? Perhaps finally, the females of his species have finally come to their senses, and realized what a gentleman he was. Much better than Spartans, or Gladiators; those brutes.
Daintily, he heaved his massive bulk out of his maxnomic casual sport gaming chair and made his way to the door. He hesitated, then let it swing open. A girl, too beautiful to be 3D stood their.
"Will you let me in, Anon?" she asked. Her voice was the voice of angels. Numbly, he stepped aside and let her glide inside. Her shift whispered gently as she moved. Strangely, there seemed to be a barely perceptible hum that followed her inside as well...

"S-stories?"
"Oh yes. I heard you were handsome, and intelligent and could please any woman."
"Well, yes, obviously that's... true."
"Will you show me?" She hummed prettily and Anon nodded robotically. Neither moved. After 15 minutes, the woman made an odd, angry buzzing noise and stepped forward, grabbing anon's hands. This is a kiss! She wants to kiss me! Anon's mind shrieked, and he whipped his head forward, to bring his lips to hers. They were... oddly lumpy. Just like he'd read about! Very soft and... pokey... He jerked his head back, eyes snapping open. Instead of his beautiful, perfect waifu, there was a swarm of bees patiently waiting in the vague outline of a woman!
"NO!" Anon shouted. Whether it was the despair of his first kiss being to a swarm of bees, or the fact that he knew now that the gods were jealous of him and his unbridled talent, he didn't know. He lumbered desperately to his computer again, ignoring the best he could, the thousands of tiny insects jabbing their poison into him.
'Just three more words!' he thought, his vision going hazy. 'Two more! One... more...' Slumping to his knees, Anon raised his arm high over his head index finger outstretched. With one last burst of herculean effort, he slammed it down on the period key. The sound echoed throughout all of Rome, perhaps even the world. Distantly, the gods bellowed in rage.
Anon, satisfied, rolled his swollen and discolored body over onto his back and died.

It always starts this way anon with precisely your attitude. Then, the memelords come and shit on everything.

Still, It would be interesting to see what would come out with strict moderation that enforces a spartan code of rules and practices. It'd be purposely long, arbitrary and complicated so only the most commited and dedicated anons (and memelords) would be able to write anything.

Still, this thing would be more like an internet social experiment than literature.

It would be interesting and might even make something good. I mean other boards have been able to do things that is coherent and not just psychobabble.

I think the most difficult thing is that besides "We want to make a good book" there isnt any unifying subject that everyone wants. Nor is there a character or purpose. In the singalongs they at least had structure and guidence from a higher source (The song). In writing a book /lit/ doesnt really have that.

These work really well together. Start off with Anon getting carried into the /lit/ afterlife, he wanders around purgatory for a bit, then encounters a trial-master (Pynchon?), they banter for a bit, and the trial-master sends him of on an arbitrary number of trials, determined by the readers.

Each trial can be a meme, and we can close with some "mandatory" trials that close out a character arc, followed by his acceptance/refusal into /lit/ heaven.

Could be a clever use of the Hero's Journey.
>>
>>9051204

For suspense, we should have a 60-40 mix of passed/failed trials, so that Anon has to grow. The last trial before the end should be an auto-fail.

I like this.

It could also easily work in a way that thousands of anon's could contribute. Here me out.

Introduction establishes the premise, ending with Anon being brought before the Pantheon. He requests to be saved from the apocalypse. The Pantheon asks him a series of questions (could be literary, philosophical, existential, whatever), all of which he must answer correctly in order to be saved.

Anon responds to each question with a short story, which shows how he came to know the answer to the particular question (think Slumdog Millionaire, but the stories can be much more abstract. They could take place in any place, time or setting one could think of, as long as it related SOMEHOW to the initial question).

Basically each chapter would begin with a question from the Pantheon and follow with a short story showing how the answer is learned, and finish with the anons answer. And each chapter/short story would be written by a different anon.

One chapter, or a number of chapters, could be exceptionally long, and contain poetry by "the anon", which would give any number of anons a chance to contribute their poetry to the text.

He doesn't even realize it, but he becomes more and more involved in the world and, although he still experiences setbacks just as frequently, he now realizes they're born out of his errors which he learns not to repeat.

Hero's Journey is the faggiest term ever and anyone who uses it unironically can only write worthless trash
>>
There was someone on lit a few months ago writing some /lit/ collab novel about a post-apocalyptic Trump presidency. IDK what happened with that.

I think another /lit/ novel would be fun and I'd love to contribute shitposts but IDK how you can do it authentically without having some fag delete huge parts of a google doc
>>

You're underestimating how hilariously bad vanity presses are. It's like a lifetime of high-quality needling fuel.

>IDK how you can do it authentically without having some fag delete huge parts of a google doc

Make a free forum ran by Philosopher King Mods, who delete "unworthy troll posts", and who do not allow content to be deleted, or just as a way of organizing contributions, so then these 'elite of the council' organize into the master copy, and then distribute copies of the master copy, to then be edited, and then have sections of edited copies shown and passed and judged, to see if worthy to include the 'edit' in the master copy.

Is this worth reading? Also, where can i get the PDF or something? I am very curious.

Ok Guys,

Here's a quick rundown on the premise and structure for the new novel using the ideas from this thread.

I've left a lot of things intentionally ambitious and open to discussion, but at least this is something semi concrete to work with.

Keen to hear the first thoughts/suggestions and get the discussion going.

BTW, it might help to read the 'Notes' section at the bottom of the second page (on its way) first to better understand the document.

/lit/ books with "anon" as the main character are cringey. it was alright the first time in tlotiat but its just getting stupid now. its like home stephen king books always have writers from maine as the main character
>>
>>9050358
this is almost exactly how TLOTIAT opens.
>>
>>9050630
I think the idea of a group of Anon's from /lit/ collectively authoring a novel is a good one. Katawa Shoujo was the only thing of worth /v/ has ever produced, but it was only a handful of people from the board who were involved.

You can't just let writing be a orgiastic free for all. You need structure, and only a select group of writers to be able to do it.

I have a copy. I haven't even read it yet but I plan to read the clean stories to my daughter once she is a bit older.

I wonder how it will influence her language-learning.

A single narrative would work.
>>9050203
>Setting Ideas:
Occult activities that underlie imaginary figures and their very boring lives.
Like Dubliners but with shitposting supernatural beings behind everything. Maybe there's an evil wizard behind them too and the short stories all have some allusion to him, and by the end he is revealed to be a millennia-old virgin wizard.
>Plot/story Ideas:
See above. Anons can come up with their own short stories.
>Character Ideas:
See: wizard. A Mephistopheles figure could be taken from Dr. Faustus/ Goethe's Faust/ the Recognitions too.

If anons decide to write something, I suggest it be a compilation of stories revolving around Wojak. We could agree on a number of characteristics and whatnot for consistency. Wojak would be a good subject because he's been a 4chan trademark for years and hasn't been appropriated by 'normies'.

I'd like to make an honorary mention to Gondola as well.

I wasn't aware of that; perhaps our standards are different. But even if what you say is true then it's by no means comparable to what happened to Pepe. 4chan and IRC are the only 'social' environments I loiter online, so I only find out about appropriation through screencaps and I don't remember seeing any of Wojak in a long time (at least a couple of years).

I'd like it if you apologised for calling me an idiot because I believe it was unwarranted.

He's colloquially known as Wojak on 4chan; though you're probably not wrong about his origins. Wojak means "warrior" in Polish and is coincidentally also the name of a beer. I'm actually a north american Polack who speaks the language fluently.

I had the idea of doing a collaborative parody of pic related, but all I've come up with so far is a parody of the chapter where the protagonist visits a LARPers home where it's 80's/90's nostalgia instead of 40's.
