I picked up a Magic novel once and I think it was an extremely serious contender for the worst book I've ever read. It was almost impressively bad.

I'll have to agree with you. I read the one for scars of Mirrodin, and by golly is that book bad. It's a shame, because the concept is pretty neat and that block is pretty dope too.
