How do we define "love"?
More specifically, how do we define "romantic love"?
To me, love is to want and to devote yourself to make someone be happy, or something among those lines.

Is romantic love actually real? I've never felt anything the like and I'm kinda worried desu.

Welcome to the fucking 19th century. Holy shit does anyone of this board actually read books?
Read love and eroticism by octavio paz. Literatura literally created love as we know it today. Unfortunately 'love' in modern times is due for a revision, lest we acknowledge nihilism, i.e. the increasingly less need for a concept such as love. Also note that acknowledging this is not the same as condoning it.

marriages should be based on practicality and reaching a minimum threshold of attraction rather than lust

Why would marriage and love be tied? Marriage is historically contractual. Love has never been historicallly tied in such a matter.
Love doesn't exist. You can feel care, pride, connection, belonging and lust, sure. I mean, if you combine all of those things and feel them about one person, that's romantic love. But that's retarded and simply not possible. People who think they're in love are just stupid and are usually just pretending.
Have I developed a bond with my domestic partner over the years? Sure. Do I love them? No.
