What reading would you recommend to overcome my hedonistic existence void of meaning?
Alcoholism looms over me like a thick fog, it has trapped me into Self-deprecation through my drive to achieve, and what I occupy myself with ( e.g. genre fiction)
>Poetry, fiction, non-fiction are all welcome.
Please help me in helping myself
Books can only take you so far. They can't fix your life for you.

Welcome to the pit, there's no escape besides deep self-analysis, consistent directed behavior, living up to your word, hard stuff like that. Feel free to stay down here with me though.

I'm not implying they can, what I am asking for is literature to help facilitate change in my lifestyle.

What you're doing is making a thread to discuss your problem, and tacking on "what books r gud for this?" so it doesn't get deleted. Fuck off to /adv/ or /r9k/.
"Meaning" is just another thing to satiate your hedonism. Stop trying to satiate it, stop being lead by it, regard the fact that man is a limited being (and so its pleasure/displeasure can be and are limited), change your mental and physical habits without doubting, and don't be discouraged. The last one is the biggest problem, because you have to learn to take each events on its own, which you'll think is difficult, but which you're already doing on some level.
And read some German philosophers while you're at it.
p.s. If you're an alcoholic then you probably don't really love alcohol. Become rich by needing less, not getting more.
