I don't think reading more improves your reading speed beyond whatever increase you may get from having a better vocabulary, and being familiar with different styles of writing.
Also, there are a lot of factors than can affect reading speed such as the content, and your ability to process information (i.e. your IQ), etc. So simply saying to read more doesn't really cut it.

How much can you read per hour?
For me it ranges from 50 to 30 pages an hour, depending on how i read it. If i'm reading something like a textbook where i seek to learn as much as i can it's usually on the lower end.
Sometimes i can read up to 100 pages/hour if i'm really interested. But that's an exception, not the norm.

Depends entirely on the book. Meditations is an "easy" philosophy book but only getting through ten pages every half hour or so. I'd imagine if it were fiction then it wouldn't be as much of a trudge.
