I'm not saying he's a bad writer, but his books are big, there's tons of them and as was said, they can be repetitive, but that doesn't immediately invalidate his other works.

Regardless, what you said doesn't make much sense. What matters first is that his version of Arthur is great and that's reason enough to read, if you have the time for 1000+ pages.
