English is not my mother tongue. But I want to have better understanding of the language, both its beauty and knowledge. From which book should I start?

Writing Lolita in English, then translating it to Russian himself, iirc, made Nabokov stop writing in Russian because it couldn't reach the beauty of the English language.

First language is what I am used to. Not a big deal, though, I was just being obnoxious.
I actually prefer mother tongue but I could never get away with it.
