What are some good companions to Heidegger's thought? Which philosophers other than Heidegger should I read to better grasp the Heideggerian outlook?

Derrida

If tou want to approach Heidegger that way, pretty much the entire history of philosophy, with super special emphasis on the greeks, Kant, Husserl, Nietzsche, and Hegel. But if you just want to read Heideger because his books have great titles just jump in. The YT channel philosophical overdose has some great videos on Heidegger, as well as most other philosophers too though.

Read some Descartes, he's like Marty but only a light version of him and a good introduction to the super advanced concepts he brings up later.
What else besides Being and Time by Heidegger is worth reading by him?

Three very good companions to look up would be Richard Sembera's "Rephrasing Heidegger", Theodore Kisiel's "The Genesis of Heidegger's Being and Time", and Thomas Sheehan's "Making Sense of Heidegger".
For other philosophers, maybe read Brentano's essay on Aristotle's Metaphysics, which was an enormous influence, as well as the Metaphysics itself. Otherwise, Husserl's Logical Investigations?

Nice. I just bought this. It's good? Currently working through Krell's Daimon Life (which is good, but not what I expected). So far I think the best commentary on Heidegger recently published is Andrew Mitchell's Fourfold. It's fantastic. Also Withy's Being Uncanny.
Keep in mind these are not introductory readers (for the OP). These are contemporary applications.

Aristotle, Kierkegaard, and Husserl are all worth looking at. Maybe Safranski's biography ''Heidegger: Between Good and Evil".
I also find Arendt interesting since she took a lot of the fundamentals of Heideggarian ontology from B&T and wound up using it in her later works. But that's less for understanding Heidegger and more for examining how he affected his students.

Definitely helped me to get over the hump with B&T. I'm not so much into Heidegger anymore, but only because I was a raging daseinfag for a couple of years. So maybe now it's just a part of my worldview, rather than something I'm done with.
Anyways. Book gets two thumbs up. Cheers for the other recs as well.
