Are kids lit worth reading as an adult?
I've never read stuff like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as a child.

there's two kinds of kids lit (which can overlap).
It can be written retardedly, and kids like it, because they are the only ones who could like it, because they are stupider than adults. The adults who write these are stupid themselves, and calling themselves children's authors is sort of a cop-out.
Other kids lit can just be something about kids, and kids lives, about dealing with school and parents and shit, so kids relate to it.
The latter can still be good as an adult.

This.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is also good.

Ronald Dahl is an all around great author; The Witches is also great, and I still really like his autobiographical work as well

This anon is right. There's valuable children's literature out there like Tom Sawyer, Treasure Island, and The Little Prince, but there's also garbage. Fairytales are worth reading to get a look at the original source of things that are ingrained in our culture now, like Little Red Riding Hood.

Hans Christian Andersen can be read by adults and children, his texts works on multiple levels.
