anyone here read wittgenstein's mistress? is it as good as people say?
I got like 2/3rds through it, stopped due to impatience.
It's super easy to read, like a bunch of tweets. Not much happens however, far as I can tell. Cool book though.

I WAS Wittgenstein's mistress, and if you're referring to his dick, it was, indeed, as good as people (your mom) say.

I posted this, and here I am a few hours later, checking for my (You)s, laughing just as much as when I posted it.

I read a few pages and stopped. It didn't feel like it was going anywhere and I didn't get half the references. Glad I didn't pay money for it.

>as good as people say
Who says that?
What's the essential Wittgenstein to read?

David Foster Wallace said it in an essay. That's probably where they're hearing it from.
I still want to read it tho. DFW was a hack, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be insightful.
I read it in bed one winter and it was fucking awesome. It's slow, ponderous, and deeply moving once you start putting the pieces together. It's fragmented because it's basically the extended ramblings and recollections of a half-mad woman. If you ask me, anyone who says it's boring just didn't bother to read enough of it to "get it".
