Centuries take a while to get going. I'd say it wasn't till just after the First World War that the 20th century really became the 20th century, before being the limbo between the 19th and the 20th. Now, last year, we have seen the 20th century buried and the 21st has come into its own. This year and those that follow will be very interesting, and will give us a real flavour for what the rest of the 21st century is going to be like

Who knows. We might even produce some good literature. Who's up for a new Modernism?
