I don't think it's his best film from the early period but it certainly is a very good picture, maybe not as entertaining as A bout de souffle or Pierrot but I like coming back to it. The most interesting part is dialogue with Parain and her monologue Je suis responsable.

Oscar Wilde has this poem called The Harlot's House, it's kind of uses prostitutes as a metaphor for people from marginalized sexual identities. It's pretty short, but definitely a worthwhile read.

Not really about whores.

There is this book called The Courtesan by Alexandra Curry but i feel it may be a Chinese form of Memoirs of a Geisha. It may more be less about her experience as a prostitute in China and later Court, but more of her reaction to changing cultures during the Qing Dynasty. I haven't gotten around to getting through it though.
