You haven't even begun to explore the Castle. The beginning is just an overview. It's more fun when you start really digging into structure of their lives and how they weave into the Castle itself. Also, what's not to like about the first 2 chapters? You get to meet so many wonderful characters! Flay, Mr. Rottcod, Swelter! Sorry if you're not feeling it tho. I guess it's just not for you. But you won't get to meet Mrs. Slagg, Steerpike, Fuschia, or Dr. Prunesquallor. I guess this book gives me a childlike glee that you won't understand if it's not what you're looking for. Anyway, i hope u give it another chance, but if not, then good luck on finding the right book for u!

Yeah I liked Rottcod, I guess I got bored because I didn't like Flay as much. I may grudgingly read the next few chapters and see what happens. I guess my main issue is that I'm actually starting a 1000+ page book since it's a trilogy.

I finished the trilogy a few months ago.
I found some parts of it very dry and boring, the whole climax involving Steerpike was brilliant HOWEVER the 3rd book was felt like it should've been an entirely separate book and didn't enjoy it at all.
