This is true for me too. I think it is because I get inspired to write when my life is busy, juggling school and work and social relations, and that this is obviously when I have the least time to read. When I have the most time to read, ie, being NEET sitting in bed at my parents' reading all day my life is so uninspiring I feel no drive to read. (despite being surrounded by the wonders of literature all day)
Maybe it's all coincidence though and this is merely my attempt at making sense of it.
The less you consume others thoughts the more you want to share your own thoughts.
