Ancient Greek is an extremely alien language to modern English, and is largely unfeasible to learn without assistance. Unless you want to pursue a career in classical study, it's a better use of your time to find and read through good translations.

It takes at least a year to learn a language semi-fluently, and that's if you're devoting a bulk of your time to it, now sack up and keep grinding at it. It took me two years to learn french to the point where I could read basic texts and even then I was consulting my dictionary often, and I've been learning japanese for 6 months and am still a fullblown retard at it.
