I have no idea what it's about. I know it's about memories, but that's all. Anything I look up about it makes it seem disjointed and lacking. I'm sure the series itself is actually great, but until I know more about it I can't get myself to get into it

Having read and greatly enjoying the first ~200 pages, I have to warn you that it really isn't about anything concrete. Just more or less random memories flowing through the narrator's head. It's beautiful, read it.

Wrong. There are definite themes being explored and there are many well drawn characters who change and develop throughout the novel. The plot may not follow a standard structure like other novels, but if that's enough to scare you away then you are a pleb.
