You can never learn what you really believe, only what you desire to believe
Yesterday, I was taking my usual evening stroll in a park. The ground is covered in a mix of fresh snow and a layer of ice, so you gotta be careful and watch your step. Thanks to my good night vision I spotted an empty glass beer bottle lying in the middle of the road, covered in a snow camouflage. There was no one around, but the park is often frequented by joggers, dog lovers, and old people. I imagined how simple it would be for somebody to miss that bottle in the dark and tripping on glass would certainly cause a hard fall. Kicking it off the road wouldn't have taken any effort, however, I left it there untouched.
Was my negligence a reprehensible act? Was I obliged to kick it off the road? I somebody were to trip on that bottle and break their neck, would that make me at least somewhat responsible?
