He's right but part of it is the adoption of middle-style in writing, the novel as a medium, the dissolution of the importance of language, and the heralding of moral 'lessons' over what formerly made an epic or play great (most literature today is based around "And that's why drugs/ racism/ sexism are bad..." and this is also the theme of Infinite Jest, White Noise, etc.)

Thomas Pynchon is the only person right now writing in high style, but the days of Baudelaires, Rimbauds, Henry Millers are gone.

Right now all we can do is add more white women, Latin American and a few Japanese authors.

Within the next 10 years Nigeria will produce a work worthy of the Western canon.

Forced diversity is so stupid. I'm not going to read some book just because the person who wrote it is a Trans Atlantic Native Pacific Islander Curvy Ebony Female. I don't care who writes great books - if its mostly white men, then so be it. If there is a book worth reading by someone who isnt a white man, then start talking about it.
