am I supposed to laugh?

no I didn't. only laugh was bloom pooh. book pretty boring.
>>8880866
Yes, repeatedly

yes. Its vulgar sense of humour is what makes it so good. People who haven't read it like to shit on it for being high-minded and pretentious but they don't give much notice of the fart jokes and innuendo which characterises the novel's modest and humbling focus on the minutia of daily life. Joyce is a master of the art of parody too

for some dumb reason I'll from time to time remember "Bloomosalem" and start laughing like an idiot
>>8880866
Yep. It also made me cry tho. Ithaca goes hard in the feels

"greaseaseabloom" is my personal favourite. Also there's something inexplicably hilarious about his "hard black shrivelled potato"
I didn't laugh as much as one is "supposed" to. A few times yes, but then I didn't read for the luls.
The more allusions one can grasp, the funnier it probably is.
Cyclops, Scylla and Charybdis and Circe are absolutely hilarious
If you got the humor you wouldn't be asking. Seems to me like you didn't laugh and you are now insecurely asking if there are jokes in the first Chapter or not.
Yes, you are supposed to laugh.
