Does stoicism really lead to happiness? I feel as if abstention from vain pleasures and pursuit of knowledge and virtue just lead to a numb life. What branch of philosophy do you believe best leads to happiness?

Philosophy is the pursuit of wisdom not happiness. Happiness is more closely related to understanding psychology and physiology than philosophy.

what a meme
purpose and social cohesion is far more important and giving than happiness
Aristippus of Cyrene. His hedonism as described by Diogene Laƫrtius is very inspiring for me. Stoicism is helpful too during hard times. The philosophy of life as a material for art from Proust can get you through really tough times also and is maybe the most inspiring... Very synthetic, sorry, but here are the points.

Like most people you are fundamentally misunderstanding stoicism. https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/stoicism/
Read this artcile and you will know more about stoicism than 99% of the people who read Aurelius or Epictetus.
>What branch of philosophy do you believe best leads to happiness
The problem here is that no definition of happiness of given which needs to be worked out before you can go about doing it. I'm very sympathetic to the later 3/4th century CE lighter stoics. My other great interest would be Aristotelianism, but that should come as no surprise since there isn't a clear distinction between the two philosophies at their respective extreme ends.

there is no happiness in stoicism. You should not give a fuck about bad things - which could not happen at all. or will be temporary (cause everything terrible is always temporary), not give a fuck about death, because death is inevitable and there is no suffering after death etc etc answer me if i am wrong

yes in part. stoicism is nearly impossoble in a world dedicated to pleasure. it's all a balancing game. don't lose yourself in rationalizations, don't lose yourself in decadence

Not happiness, but the understanding that how you feel about a thing can be a choice.
