What book should I get my dad for christmas? I try and get him a book every year; the books I've gotten for him that he's enjoyed have been Catch 22, Jonny Got His Gun, and Das Boot. I'm thinking maybe Slaughterhouse Five, but it also might be a bit too "out there" for him. But he's also a really smart guy, so he could surprise me. He asked me what Gravity's Rainbow was about when he saw me reading it and expressed some interest in reading it but like I dont think he could do that, and if he could he'd hate it every step of the way.
How about a blow job instead?
Get him a link to /lit/
After discovering that place he will never need to read another book again

Slaughterhouse sounds good, considering his interests.
I think Sirens of Titan is better tho, but maybe he's not into that

i can barely afford the subscription for myself :-/
>>8831285
I might just get him a whole bunch of Vonnegut, considering he tore through Das Boot in like three or four days.

Yeah you can pick up all of On Again Sports for probably under 40 bucks and you can rip through those in a couple days it'll give you some interesting insights into what kind of person Vonnegut is

Vonnegut*
>>8831259
get him good soldier svejk.

Guys. Stop. You don't get 5 different books on the same fucking thing especially if it's fiction. Hair color would you want one thing from American literature you want one thing from business and one thing from history
Get him Vineland, it's not as wacky yet it still has the brilliant retired moralist and setpieces of more expansive Pynchon
>>8831383
Actually saw this in Half price today and almost copped haha
>>8831418
yeah fucktard you better go back
>>8831259
Any Vonnegut is good, Hi Ho is a particular favorite of mine, though I don't know whether he'd prefer something a little more serious.
