I plan to read some pages before sleeping, but after having read other books. For example: after my daily read of, lets say, some Neruda poems, some Shakespeare and some Checkhov short-storie, only then I would jump to the dictionary. I will certainly keep a notebook to note the words that will be valuable in the future.
