So I just ordered this online. What should I expect and how should I tackle it? I heard you don't read it from cover to cover, but rather in short, random snippets.

I have and I found it quite enjoyable. I just feel I won't fully appreciate it until I have a tangible copy in my hands.

The Cantos are, as Allen Ginsberg called it, "a model of human thought".

The mad ravings of a child my man

Unless you're reading it for a class, just have fun with it. Don't worry about whether you reading it the "right" way.

Explain why you think Pound is overrated?
>>8818448
>if he's not popular on reddit he can't be overrated
PLEASE kys
>>8818448
who would pick him as a favorite? he's not a poet that works well as a favorite. he's not a 'he's my favorite' type of poet.
>>8818331
the hell does that even mean
>>8818458
It means he's not overrated by the kind of people who go on /r/books, which means he's probably not overrated by most casual fans of poetry.
Are you going to tell me that Pound is overrated in academia or among authors? Or did you just mean he's overrated on /lit/? If it's the latter, do you really believe that /lit/ is that much better than /r/books?

I'm not going to answer your questions until you fulfill my request.

...he's my favorite poet.

nuh-uh
but forreal, I've always seen him respected, even called the 'best' but haven't met someone who just loves the shit outta him. He's kind of like Dante like that.
>deliberately difficult to read

Hey, I love the shit outta Dante.
As for Pound, he's one of my literary icons but I don't think he's a great poet. Just a good one. Shines in translation more than original work.
