Does anyone have a EPUB of this? Also, I've been binging on Goethe so general Goethe thread.
Read Werther. Absolutely magnificent. Where should i go next? Faust?

I started on Werther, loved it, then went on to Metamorphosis of plants and thought the idea and execution were genius, but then I went to Faust and was pretty confused throughout. But I hate Nietzsche said his conversations with eckermann were the best things to come out of Germany and wanted to read it.

Faust is definitely a must.
Other than that, Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship was what kickstarted German Romanticism. Schlegel wrote a critique of it and proclaimed it to be the beginning of a new movement.

Goethe was so deeply involved in so many literary movements and went through different phases, it would be a bit quick to jump straight into Faust - especially if you want to get something out of Faust 2 that he wrote on for almost his entire life and was only published posthum. Before tackling it you should read abuot greek and roman mythology. Classic and medieval theater is also important, maybe atleast read a quick introduction to both. And naturally you'd also want to check out Goethe's plays first (Torquato Tasso, Iphigenie auf Tauris, etc.) even if they might be a bit dry for you.
Reading Goethe and especially Faust "properly" is basically an entire literature study of its own.
But I don't want to seem to elitist or scare you away, because reading Goethe is also a joy. Feel free to tackle Faust and take from it what you want, and then maybe return to it years later with more knowledge under your belt.Plebs will say Faust 1 is better than Faust 2.
