>Book Condition: Very Good.
>May contain some writing and highlighting.
I swear I will never buy used again in my life after the horrors of library stickers, missing dust covers, dog-ears, warped pages, etc.

u just got to know how to shop used...i can always tell on ebay when u gonna get a pristine copy with a remainder mark or some fucked up shit with three different pen colors highlighting it
>Book Condition: Very Good.
>Book is very clean.
>Crisp pages.
>Tight binding.
>Appears unread.
>Light shelf wear on dust jacket.
>Personal dedication written on the inside.

I enjoy owning books personally dedicated to other people.
It feels like prying.
>>8786505
Same. It's bizarre finding a book with a dedication inside it, that's otherwise in better quality than the others next to it, and yet's cheaper. I feel like I ought to be paying more for it.
>buying used books at all
if you want to touch cum crusted pages do it for free at the library
>>8786510
I think it's nice.
It makes me feel like I'm not utterly isolated from the rest of humanity. That I'm in a tradition.
>but that it's sold means that they didn't value it
Then the book is just being inherited not by the dedicator's son-in-blood, but his son-in-spirit.

>doo stains
>"no"
I love finding notes people have made in books. Why did they write it? What were they thinking? What happened to them? It adds layers to the physical book itself.

lol shut the fuck up.

This

I, too, like this.
My copy of Gilgamesh was bought some time in the 1970's with notes written in it from several distinct people. It's cool to see what theories they subscribed to based on their notes.

>Not buying out of print first edition first prints
I can handle some highlights, dog ears, less than stellar page conditions.
Maybe i have a fanciful outlook on books but i like honest wear. Yellowed pages, library stamps, slighly frayed or mushed edges. They just absorb essence of time. I try to avoid paperback as they just age like stale bread.
I buy most of my old books off fleabay, rarely find anything worth a damn local. Though i have suspicions sometimes wgen most of the listings are $40-75 for various printings and editions and then a small handful for $28 free shipping. I haven't been burned yet but i only get those if the seller specializes in books and has good ratings
>go to used bookstore
>tons of returned copies of books from local university syllabus
>notes inside spoil the plot
ACADEMIIAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>it has the motion picture cover
