I agree. Your post has motivated me to stop being so scared of the world and to share my thoughts that I've had pent up. By the way, I'm eighteen (assuming you're like fifteen) so I too know modern culture better than most of you anons here.

Let me preface this by saying I don't believe in god but I think we need him for our mental image of ourselves. He's separate from us, but it's like he's intertwined with our souls in a way that we are all gods of this planet, and should view ourselves that way. I think it was Ben Affleck that once said, "a cat that jumps over a mouse might be wiser than the cat that eats the mouse." It's easy for reality to be two things when it's really one or three, but when you do the math why would there be cancer if god was real? It just goes to show that the world is cold and brutal and only by setting ourselves up to be role models can be find happiness. I think that's the key to life - we need to, like Ben Affleck, become the type of person that would die as inspiration to another person to become like, say, Ben Affleck in this analogy.
