>Fahrenheit 451

I'm filling in for my childhood, I'll get to Joyce and guys later
>Wise Blood, by Flannery O'Connor
Surprisingly funny. Good but lacked some punch.
>The Letter Killers Club, by Sigizmund Krzhizhanovsky
Occasionally interesting but the stories are hit and miss. Disappointing ending.
>The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck
Pretty great. Was always going to chime well with my faggy socialist sensibilities.
>Empire of Capital - Ellen Meiksin Wood
Interesting take on America as an economic-based empire that uses its economic powers to subjugate others and control the world. Mostly useful for the history of empires and the kinds of empires they represented I.e. the first 100 or so pages.
>A History of Bombing - Sven Lindqvist
A book quite aptly about its title, but its written in format meant to simulate the explosion of a bomb i.e. things get scattered everywhere so each piece is in subsections, and also has a choose-your-own-adventure format to it (one section recommends you jump to another so to speak)
>Dubliners - James Joyce
my first foray into Joyce. Really loved the feel of each story, both in its portrayal of small relationships, but also old city life in Dublin. Feels surprisingly warm, cozy reading for snowy nights
The beginning of my literary catching-up:
>Slaughterhouse Five
pretty good
>1984
very good
>Infinite Jest
prolly my favorite book currently, but there is a ton of stuff I obviously haven't read yet
