Anyone else or i'm just retarded?
We had independent reading in AP Lit and I finished the book a couple weeks early, and by the time it was due and he assigned an essay, I could barely remember the plot (but to be fair it wasn't really a plot based book)

There are so few books out there that really make their "point" so obscure. This board always says ">PLOT kek" but I that is the mode most stories are told and conveyed through, and most plots ain't that deep.
Lem's Law: "no one reads; if someone does read, they don't understand, if they understand, they immediately forget---owing to general lack of time, the over supply of books, and the perfection of advertising"

wishlist'd my dude, sounds interesting.
This is a common problem, allow me to explain;
When you are reading, you are reading in the moment without the intention of remembering.
You ever read a book then realise you don't know what's been going on in the past two pages? That's because you are simply looking at the words like the word 'STOP' on a STOP sign rather than actually reading STOP. Do you understand?
So when you read, don't simply pass over the words as if they are words on a motorway sign, actually read the word and make sure you make it like a marker or a big hammering of a string every time a fact is written or a date is given. Maybe even read it twice and then when you finish the book you will remember it to some degree but books take multiple readings so make sure to go back to it and look at particular paragraphs for fun.
