Is there literary value to sports entertainment? Could you consider it performance art in a sense?

i dont remember it perfectly, but barthes is a semiotician right? so he's all about signs and symbols and reading into things in (usually) warranted ways. since it's kayfabe (i.e., fake), its not about finding out who is the better wrestler. it's about rooting for good guys, booing bad guys, and he expands that to talk about how we expect to see themes of justice, suffering, good vs. evil, etc, that reflect what we hope to see in acutal societal forms of justice, i.e., the law.
i havent read it in a while, it's something like that tho
