Question for the BAfags: how much feminism and racial issues do you have to study as part of your degree?

I wanted to do philosophy and I got scared off by that so I became a doctor instead.

Fed up for the moment, though all my real interests are academic in nature. I spend my spare time reading, notetaking, and writing. I would like to have a private side career as a writer, however all my side interests pair handily with academia. I also love deliberative environments, giving impassioned speeches/lectures, and cultivating ideas through research and experimentation.

Philosophy would be for the reading material. My favorite part of poli sci was the political theory. I doubt I'll actually go into philosophy. I got the degree I got out of confusion, not passion. I'm taking time off before grad school to work so I can sort out my head and pursue passions. Maybe I won't need to go back. Maybe I'll self-educate. However the university environment is invariably most-nurturing to my desires through ease of connection to "the right type of person".

Fuck. I don't know what I want. I'm simply still considering academia.

Any advice?

Part of my fed-uppedness was due to drug-induced burnout which I'm gradually recovering from. Part was studying something that ceased to have personal meaning to me, kind of going through the motions.

What is "properly entering academia" to you? What's the difference between the experience of a Master's or Doctoral program versus the undergraduate experience, besides the glories of getting to be a TA?
>>
>>8664501
If you aren't pressured to publish multiple articles a year under duress you don't know shit about Academia.

In reality you aren't really a academic unless your a non-administrative faculty; to many people read reddit and think they're a academic because their working towards a masters.

English - a lot lot lot of feminist stuff, but some redpilled books in there too, e.g. Beowulf, Inferno. Also a lot of English professors are so used to the same liberal slant on writing that, whenever I wrote something that defied that norm, I was always approached and commended on "taking a stand for a differing viewpoint", even if the professor was liberal. I didn't go full NATSOC obviously, because I don't believe in that stupid shit, but still.

PoliSci - Classes vary about 70/30 liberal/conservative - it's actually a lot better than you think. And I go to one of the most liberal schools in the country. People actually study their shit and most are well-informed and well-versed in their ideologies, if not "redpilled". There is not a lot of feminist stuff but there is a lot of race stuff - having to do with the Constitution, Supreme Court cases, American history, BLM, etc. Professors are, here, also receptive to differing viewpoints. One of the profs I got to write me a reference for law school actually caught me at a bar about a year after I took his constitutional law class and we talked about a loud argument I had about abortion with a girl in the middle of our lecture.

As apart of my degree one of my five modules this year is explicitly about feminist issues, and so far all the lecturer has done is contradict the SJWs in the room and make fun of shortsighted US third-wavers. I don't know how it will be in the US because I know you guys have really embraced the shitty third wave, but my course so far has actually been incredibly interesting and an entirely balanced look at the issues and gender representation. Honestly one of the best things you could do is take a feminist leaning module because it is very stimulating if you're not already familiar with feminism (real shit, not the dumb shit online) and you'll find the lecturers are as cynical about the movement as you are. Again, this is likely isolated to the UK though.
