Second book i write.
I write short stories too, but when im planning a novel i always go for long stories. I have tried to limit myself but there is no use for it.

I dont plan to publish so is not a bother in that regard.

A contemporary novel shouldn't be anymore that 350 pages nowadays. Bloat /= quality

Oh, okay then. Well, like the other anon said, you can try editing it, but if you're just writing for the sake of writing or to improve as a writer then yeah, no downside to starting again.

I know that feeling, OP. I'm on my fourth. They're getting shorter, at least. But there's nothing like rereading something you spent two or three years on only to realize deep down that it's total shit.
