Up for a detective game, /lit/?
What book is this? It's from Penguin books, that's all I know aside from this blurry pic of the cover.
It appears to be two words. First word is monosyllabic, probably "The"... Second word is likely 4 to 5 syllables, starting with an M or K...
Can't be bothered looking through a catalog.
The Metamorphosis?

Great guess, however when googling for penguin books covers of the metamorphosis I find no similar covers.
(The book will be in English)
I thnk the first word might be longer than "The"? Looks like at least 4 or five letters to me.

How about some background? Where is this still from?
Do you know what series of Penguin releases look like pic related? I'm a kindlefag, not too familiar sorry.

This is a still from the tv series The Fall (season 3, episode 4).
I only know it's penguin because i can make out the logo.
The guy the book belongs to (I'm not spoiling things here so don't worry) is a sexual sadist. He had another book which was Crime and Punishment, so it's in that kinda genre. He speaks a lot about Nietzsche and such.
Pic is the back of the book (there are no clearer pictures I'm afraid).
great show by the way, I recommend it

Ding ding ding.

Andre Gide's The Immoralist. The cover is one of the Penguin Modern Classics with the covers they used in the 2000s. This is what the current version looks like.

Sounds great if you're into queer stuff.
>In The Immoralist , André Gide presents the confessional account of a man seeking the truth of his own nature. The story's protagonist, Michel, knows nothing about love when he marries the gentle Marceline out of duty to his father. On the couple's honeymoon to Tunisia, Michel becomes very ill, and during his recovery he meets a young Arab boy whose radiant health and beauty captivate him. An awakening for him both sexually and morally, Michel discovers a new freedom in seeking to live according to his own desires. But, as he also discovers, freedom can be a burden. A frank defense of homosexuality and a challenge to prevailing ethical concepts, The Immoralist is a literary landmark, marked by Gide's masterful, pure, simple style.

I can't believe I've stumbled into a thread where this stupid song I heard drunkenly sung at a Chinese karaoke bar is somehow relevant.
