He will provide a new insight in an entertaining way that also has relevance to his emotional narrative. He'll process information that all of us process also, but his application will be more creative and efficient than normal.

A dumb person's interpretation of an intelligent character will recite a Wikipedia entry very quickly and lots of other people will react with awe and envy. For the dumb person, the purported smart guy's intelligence is much less important than his image of intelligence. Explaining a difficult mathematical concept in such an original way that unacknowledged truths about our lives are revealed? Boring. What happened in the bar? Some kid read and memorized some books and used that to dunk on batman. What does will do? He rips him a new one. He realizes that memorizing vast amounts of information and repeating it word for word is not intelligence. He realizes the importance of forming your own opinion trough processing the information as opposed to just passing it off as your own. Will himself just enjoyed reading, enjoyed learning and he found more joy in the works of these authors than actually sitting in school and being bored by material that is form both trivial in level and speed he's supposed to learn it. Hence he ended up a loser who rips trough the entire library but also drowns himself in his friends and construction jobs.
Yeah he lists down these names like a /lit/faggot trying to show off. But it isn't done to say "omg will hunting so smart" He lists these because he is backed into a corner. That these will always be there for him. Because the story of GWH is not about WH being the smartest kid. It's about WH being fucking scared shitless.
