You're learning German as well? Are you me? I'm also studying up on math and learning German. Are there any math books that really stood out to you that you've read? If you're in the market for a good math book I recommend the book "What is Mathematics" by Courant and Robbins and "Mathematics a very short introduction" by Timothy Gowers.

I'm re-buying Baldwin because my old copy disappeared and that one is $3.99 and like-new or whatever. Otherwise this is all new stuff to me. Will make up a lot of my reading over the next few months.

I wouldn't get Diving Pool new, especially if you're getting it based on liking The Housekeeper and the Professor. Her other books are S&M-type dark, not at all similar. I still enjoyed them, but I wouldn't suggest paying "new" price.
