that would make a sick name for a band bro. so sick. I might call my band brief interviews / hideous men
Book has too much quality to narrow it done.
is this a good starting point for DFW
the one with the girl telling the dude about the time she was raped by a hitchhiker murderer for sure

Yup. Imo it's on a level with IJ and Pale King. It's also his first serious work, after revamping his whole writing-game.
tri stan was garbage but
on his death bed holding your hand was great

You can start with it, but I think it's his absolute best writing, so everything else of his would be underwhelming if you did, including infinite jest.

Infinite Jest is better, in my opinion. So here you have two opinions. Start with Brief interviews with Hideous Man.
Many of the autistic ADHD-ridden pseuds got so burned by the first 100 pages of Infinite Jest that they devote their entire free time to shit on it. Brief Interviews can be read in small doses, so it's much more fitting to the capabilities of the contemporary subject.

I've finished both. IJ was my first DFW and I obviously wouldn't have read anything else by him if I didn't like it. I just think there's way too much fluff and moralizing per capita in IJ.
