just a part of the perpetual belief that everyone is inherently special when they're not
why the fuck should someone be congratulated and praised and be center of attention just because they've lived for x amount of years
it creates loneliness like yours

every time my birthday came I purposely hid it from anyone I know, for the fact that I don't want some obligatory relations just because of a stupid tradition

Yeah this is the right additude towards things like this, same goes for christmas and valentines day. It's just marketing and society guilting you into joining a social charade.

Not that a bday can't be a nice excuse to see your friends and family. All these sort of conventions can be great under the right circumstances and there's no reason to be too cynical. But the lonely birthday doesn't exist, it's just a regular, lonely day.
