>Shakespeare mentions clocks in Julius Cesar
Why are we supposed to venerate this hack?
Why would a clock be inside Julius Cesar?
That sounds painful.
I know you're baiting but just saying, water clocks and meridian have been around for a really long time anon <3

Shakespeare's plays were not intended to be historically realistic. Everyone in Shakespeare's time knew this. In his plays set in Rome, the actors dressed like Elizabethans.
Shakespeare was more interested in presenting something relevant to his audience, than in presenting something without contemporary relevance. Using blatant anarchism was considered perfectly fine back then for this. Golding's translation of Ovid uses the imagery of gunshots.
The idea of historical accuracy being any concern whatsoever in art didn't start until the last few decades.
>Suetonius mentions cocks in Julius Caesar

Yeah I bet they didn't even speak English in Ancient Rome.

>>>>>>>>>anarchism
Holy shit dude. Whatever credibility you had you just lost. Stop using a name. Because everytime I see it I'm now going to remember you as the pseud who throws around big words to seem smart without actually knowing what they mean.

It was a typo, Professor

Sure it was you fucking pseudo-intellectual.

I hope this is bait.
Anarchism was clearly a spelling error. Every pseud and his dog knows the difference between an anachronism and anarchism. Only a pseud would infer pseudism from this referenced and insightful post, pseud.

He's right, but I hope this is just the same namefag pretending to be someone else.

If you're triggered by anachronisms, you'd better not read any "historical" works written between 900 AD-1800 AD, anon. Historical accuracy is a new concern. Shakespeare's Rome or Greece was Elizabethan to the core. That's like me being unable to enjoy any Arthurian, Robin Hood, Ancient Greek, etc., movies because the fucking actors all have modern buzzcuts and wear patent leather.
