Why not use some of the discarded work /lit/ prepared a year ago? There's a graveyard of prose just waiting. I think someone has an archive of all the stories that didn't make it. A good chunk of it makes up well over a hundred pages, maybe.

You know....most people who've had terrible shitty lives usually have interesting things to write about, and evolve beyond the level of a mid 30s fanfic writer.

You know what kind of book I'd like to read? Something about a complete loser sucking gas fumes all day as he sits in a stupid little shack fueling up trucks and listening to truckers talk about how the most they drove over the limit all day. That actually could be the basis of some good story.

I don't work there anymore, bonelord. I got a better job. Try again. Now I install stairlifts and elevators into the homes of the elderly, infirmed, or super rich. It's rewarding to help older people and the pay is really good. Take this guy for instance. Korean War soldier, when lunch time rolled around he invited me like many others do to sit with them and enjoy a meal. Good times. It's fun and educational to listen to people who have lived full lives. You learn the importance ,substance, and likely outcomes of the challenges you've yet to face.

Already working on it. I distilled it down to a story about a young marine who gets kicked out of the corps for beating a stupid lieutenant in a warzone. With little money and nowhere to go he ends up taking a job in a pornstore along the interstate. His coworker is an old foul mouthed, aids ridden queen who sells lingerie to strippers. Wild children repeatedly deface his car and he tries to save a 16 year old girl from being abused by her wigger pimp and his Ford Explorer full of tweaker "yo dawgs". I think the only reason I'm writing it is so I I can actually use the term "double ended marital aid" in casual conversation without it feeling forced. I've got tons of other shit to write before I do that one. Finishing my devil book now, finishing the notes on a hacker trilogy all while pushing these space opera books out the door. Book 3 drops in December. Whatchu working on?
