Moby Dick is a great book. Im currently reading it, im halwfway through and although im enjoying it its taking me more time than i expected to complete it
What are your experiences with this novel?
If I were a billionaire, had a mother to my child, I would fill his nursery with Rousseau, then, when he became of age we would switch rooms and I would feel at home.

I've yet to read it, is it much different from Heart of Darkness?

Well, Melville and Conrad have different styles... They're both similar in how they talk about human condition and feelings through nature/animals/ the unknown
I dont know what you think about that

Maybe the best book I've read. I can't wait to read it again. Any good critical/secondary texts that any of you recommend re Moby Dick? My friend told me DH Lawrence has an interesting essay on it (which I have yet to read).

Yes it is completely different. Read it as soon as you can.

What?
...what?
Took me three attempts in as many years to get all the way through. It was a really rewarding experience but I'll probably never read it again.
I was surprised by how funny it was
